The Bran Castle roams these lands, placed on a cliff, over the edge of a valley. According to the official documents, the construction was finished November 19th 1377. Designed as a border fortress while also fulfilling the role of a customs house, for a long time, this citadel was part of Brașov, enriching the city’s treasury.
The National Bran Museum holds, within its who sections, the Village Museum and the Medieval Customs House Museum, the most representative artefacts for Bran’s history. The Village Museum was designed as an outdoors section and offers a view of the main household types, constructions and manufacturing tools for wood and wool used back in the old times. The Râșnov Citadel is a fortified ensemble on the rocky hill above Râșnov city, in Brașov County. It is one of the best kept fortified ensembles in Transylvania.
